Music Business Academy by HTL International school. A new exciting project comes to life

We were always interested in Music Business, even if it is not evident. First open in 2005 HTL International school has established the reputation of providing structured and practical education in business and tourism management. In 2026 it is time to start something new

The HTL team always had a passion for creativity and entertainment. A Master’s in Events Management, which has existed from the beginning, is great proof of this passion. Starting in 2021, we added people from the music industry to our family, which led us to the desire to add more music-related education to our curriculum. In 2026, this dream comes true. Let us explain what the HTL Music Business Academy is and why you need to consider it as your future place to study.

How it all started

In November 2021, we welcomed to HTL team a new member. Tanya Mateos is a talented classical music performer, and back then, she had just finished her education in Music Business. She started with us as a teacher assistant and later moved to the position of social media manager. And she was the inspiration behind this project. Tanya shared not only her experience as a performer but also as a recently graduated student. She told us a lot of things that were missing and that were necessary for young musicians. The idea and inspiration were there, but we were not ready yet to dive into the music business.

From idea through research to the plan

David Martin (the humble author of this blog post) joined HTL in January 2023. For a long time, he stayed behind the scenes, helping with administrative work and marketing research. But his experience in organizing events and managing the artist, together with his passion for the music world, gave a new life to the project of Music Business Academy. Together with Polina Grek, our teacher of (and expert in) strategic management, they spent a year and a half researching and creating the following programs:

• 9 months Master’s degree, for those who need to have the full picture
• 2-month Diploma programs, for those who already have an education in music or in business, and need to specialize

HTL Music Business Academy was born, but we still felt that something was missing. And there was still some path ahead to make our project perfect

Getting help from the Music Industry itself

For the last 6 months, David, Polina, Tanya, and others stayed in constant communication with musicians, vocal performers, music teachers, and venue owners. We interviewed them, which gave us the necessary insights. Therefore, not only helping us to bring our on-campus programs to perfection, but also to create short online courses. Those courses are 1 month only, providing the necessary information on different specific topics, like:

• Vocal health,
• Mental health of the artist
• Understanding the algorithm of music publishing.
• Artist image and public appearance

Now we are feeling that we are finally ready to start. But we still need one more thing…

The last thing that is missing

As you could see in this blog post, we have spent years getting ready. And we never stop. In HTL Music Business Academy, we make sure to do all the necessary research, analyse all the information, and be ready to provide you with everything you need and nothing that you don’t. You can ask, “What is still missing?” The answer is simple – you!
